Behind the scenes: CC meeting

In the last weekend of February, most of EMEYF’s Communications Committee met in Leeds. We called in our beloved treasurer Juno, so they could tell us smart things about numbers and policies from a screen, and upheld our gatherings coördinator Daniël as he was off campaigning. Are we allowed to use the light to influence elections? Either way, he is now the coolest person on his city council, we are sure!

Liam (our fundraising treasurer) showed us a lot of love by driving on his day off to pick us up, and Jess (co-Elder) welcomed us to her house with pizza and a puzzle. Did you know that our co-Clerk Gray is a true puzzle friend? They can put pieces down without pause, but were kind enough to leave some for us mere mortals.  Hugh (co-Clerk) and Emmie (co-Elder) needed an entire evening for their “how is everyone we know doing” catch-up, reminiscing about back in the day like true Quaker oldies. [They would like us to know that they are not old, just old friends.]

On Saturday, we prepared business for our upcoming Spring Gathering (working hard to ensure it’s only the essentials!) and rang our wonderful Planning Committee to work out the details.

As a break, we went for a little wander while Hugh amazed us with nature-facts. We met Jess and Liam’s local alpaca, and invited them to join our committee, but they seemed more interested in chewing their fence.

We ended our day with two (not so successful) attempts to disarm an air force base by playing the cooperative cardboard game “Disarm the Base”. Ah well, better luck next time!

We’re looking forward to seeing you all in Poland!
