In August 2024, we had a “Visit a Friend”-Event in Lichtenfels, Bavariy, Germany. Emmie, Mone, Daniel, Paul, Vitek, Meli and Anna attended this meeting which was financially supported my EMEYF via the “Visit a Friend-Fund”. This aims to support EMEYF-meetings between officila EMEYF gatherings. And we also worked on our website. Here are some impressions.
Emmie: What started out as a website-building meetup, grew into a little gathering. It felt like home in that special Quaker way: where everyone is so open and welcoming that we immediately settled into community. Our time as a group made
me feel so upheld and relaxed that Anna and I breezed through the hours of website work, taking one efficient decision after the other. I feel lucky and enriched to have gotten to know these wonderful people better ❤️
Anna:
“It was wonderful to share time, experiences and reflections in a smaller group of young Quakers, living together for a few days and getting to know each other from different perspectives. For example: how adventurous people want to live during a canoe trip, or how to plan an inclusive dinner. Again? Again!” (Anna)
Paul:
Visiting a Friend in times of trouble
Deep conversation, swimming, laughter- together everything feels different: grief is half and joy is double
In a Kanu on the river
Everything is calm and peaceful
And I feel connected: to nature, to people I love, to a community that shares my values and is my spiritual home
I can feel inner peace
And I am defenetly not alone
Vitek: It was a refreshing moment to see friends and to enjoy a pause from studying for my exam! Eventhough I showed up only for a short amount of time I came out of it with such a nice mood. Thank’s Emmy for pulling me out of my den!
Meli: Ich durfte mich spontan zu den jungen Quäkern gesellen und kann nur positiv über die offene und zugewandte Art staunen.Es war eigentlich nur eine kurze Zeit beim Essen aber diese verflog sehr schnell – würde mich freue euch wieder zu treffen. (I was allowed to spontaneously join the young Quakers and can only marvel at their open and approachable nature – it was actually only a short time at dinner but it passed very quickly – I would be delighted to meet you again.)
