Thinking about the rising sea level this sounds perilous, but the metaphor first and foremost exposes our potential and power to shape Europe in a more sustainable, peaceful and respectful way.
Of course, each one of us is on a different path to act on our core values but voting is the point where we all should meet. Unlike those of us EMEYFers who are European citizens, many people (including in our EMEYF community!), who are strongly affected by decisions of the European Parliament, don´t have the opportunity to express their will by voting. It is up to us to give the most marginalised and oppressed fellow humans a voice. For us, it is only a small step to register and vote for a democratic party, that intends to design not to destroy the EU. (read more on: https://www.chooserespect.eu)
It is true that voting every five years is not enough, but nevertheless it is necessary to show our vision of Europe to the policymakers. Besides, voting yourself is not the only thing you can do right now: Talk to family, friends and colleagues about the importance of the upcoming election.
Let´s fill the voting boxes on 6-9 June with our hopes and best wishes for Europe! Find more information about the elections in your country here: https://elections.europa.eu/en/
Your EMEYF reps are working on planning a session after the outcome to discuss:
“Europe has voted! What´s next?”. On the 17 June at 19 CEST (one hour earlier for UK and Ireland), we will meet in our jitsi room. Contact us to get the link!
Love and light,
