Today we publish a picture that hangs in a living room in Berlin. His designer (Me) writes about it:
After moving into my apartment almost two years ago, it was finally time to hang a picture above my sofa or anything in the living room in general. I am far from being able to paint well and to be honest I have to admit that I don’t really have the patience for artistically drawn out projects. Still, it was important to me to paint something that meant something to me instead of just any pattern. It occurred to me early on, even before there were finally 6 canvases, that it should have something to do with me being a Quaker and the most easiest to do so, was to choose our testimonies as motive. You can find really good symbols for the SPICES online, but unfortunately they did not correspond to anything I could have drawn without ever being totally dissatisfied with them 🙂 . But at some point the time had come. To make sure that I also liked it in large format, I first drew it in a small format – this is the picture that you can see in the preview and above and then in the finished work above my sofa, see below. I thought something about each of the testimonials I painted, but I don’t want to give my interpretation, I want to give you the opportunity to find your own.

Heute veröffentlichen wir ein Bild, welches in einem Wohnzimmer in Berlin hängt. Seine Gestalterin (ich) schreibt dazu:
Nachdem ich vor fast zwei Jahren in meine Wohnung eingezogen bin, wurde es endlich Zeit ein Bild über meinem Sofa oder generell irgendetwas im Wohnzimmer aufzuhängen. Ich bin weit davon entfernt gut malen zu können und ehrlicherweise muss ich zugeben auch nicht wirklich die Geduld für künstlerisch langwierige Projekte zu haben. Dennoch war es mir wichtig irgendetwas zu malen, was eine Bedeutung für mich hat, anstatt nur irgendwelcher Muster. Schon früh, noch bevor es endlich 6 Leinwände gab, kam mir der Gedanke, dass es etwas mit meinem Quäkersein zu tun haben sollte und am einfachsten war es, unsere Zeugnisse als Motiv zu wählen. Online findet man wirklich gute Symbole für die SPICES, leider nur entsprachen Sie nichts, was ich hätte nachzeichnen können ohne jemals total unzufrieden damit zu sein 🙂 . Aber irgendwann war es dann soweit. Um sicher zu gehen, dass es mir auch in Groß gefiel, zeichnete ich es zunächst in kleinem Format – das ist das Bild, das ihr in der Vorschau sowie oben seht und dann in das fertige Werk über meinem Sofa, siehe unten. Ich habe mir zu jedem der Zeugnisse etwas gedacht, möchte aber nicht meine Interpretation, sondern euch selbst die Möglichkeit dazu geben.
Die kalte Jahreszeit hat begonnen und mit steigenden Coronazahlen verbringen wir wieder mehr Zeit in unseren Wohnungen.
